Raku Vase

Raku Vase

$40.00

Raku, a traditional Japanese firing method that involves taking red-hot pottery out of a heat source and allowing them to combust with organic materials, creates extremely unique and eye catching ceramic pieces.

The vibrant resulting colors of the objects are due to the high metal content in raku glazes and they will react and change with continued exposure to sunlight. Another feature of the raku firing process is the presence of fine dark grey lines on the surface of the pieces.

Due to the low-range firing temperature, raku objects are not food safe and are porous; these vases are not water-tight.
